Musharraf crossed LoC before Kargil war On February 2013

Controversy surrounding the former president and Kargil refuses to die down, with fresh allegations by a former Pakistan Army official that weeks before hostilities erupted between Indian and Pakistani troops in Kargil, then army chief General Pervez Musharraf spent a night on the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC).
Musharraf, who was accompanied by Brig Masood Aslam, then commander of 80 Brigade, spent the night at a spot called Zikria Mustaqar, where Pakistani troops commanded by Col Amjad Shabbir were present.
Shortly after this, several units were told to cross the LoC and occupy positions on the Indian side. Several units competed with each other to go further into the Indian side.

Solution:

With physical media we mean channels where the person who is talking can be seen and heard by the audience. The whole point here is to be able to not only hear the messages but also to see the body language and feel the climate in the room. This does not need to be two-way channels. In certain situations the receiver expect physical communication. This is the case especially when dealing with high concern messages, e.g. organizational change or down sizing. If a message is perceived as important to the receiver they expect to hear it live from their manager.

CS504 Software Engineering – I Assignment 6 Ide Solution Fall 2012 On February 2013

In this assignment, we will develop test cases to test certain parts of the system. Please read the template file (template.doc) given with this assignment as helping guide. You will have to develop two test cases.

First test case will test “Add Department” functionality within “Administrative Control Module” of Online Budget Control System (OBCS).

Second test case will test “Budget Requisition” functionality within “Budget Submission/Allocation Module” of Online Budget Control System (OBCS).

Questions [Marks 10+10]:

1)        Develop a test case to test the functional requirement “Add Department”.

In order to add a new department in the system, the user must have appropriate administrative rights. To add a new department, the details of the department including the department name, address, department id and phone is entered into a form. The system checks if the department is already registered or not. If not already registered, the system adds the department into database and gives success message.

2)       Develop a test case to test the functional requirement “Budget Requisition”.

Only the authorized person can make the request for budget allocation. To make a budget request, user opens a request form and fills it with all the information about the items along with their estimated cost for which budget is required to allocate. After filling the form, it is submitted to the finance department. The system saves the information regarding budget allocation request and gives the message that request is submitted.

Note:

We will assume that the test cases will be tested in future, so you can skip certain details e.g. Tested By, Result etc.

Important:

You will have to develop a separate test case for each of the above use case. Also, make sure to strictly follow the given test case template provided in template.doc file which is uploaded with the assignment file.

Solution:

yes, i agree with the statement that Parallel port is a bidirectional port.
The original specification for parallel ports was unidirectional, meaning that data only traveled in one direction for each pin. With the introduction of the PS/2 in 1987, IBM offered a new bidirectional parallel port design. This mode is commonly known as Standard Parallel Port (SPP) and has completely replaced the original design.
Bidirectional communication allows each device to receive data as well as transmit it. Many devices use the eight pins (2 through 9) originally designated for data. Using the same eight pins limits communication to half-duplex, meaning that information can only travel in one direction at a time. But pins 18 through 25, originally just used as grounds, can be used as data pins also. This allows for full-duplex (both directions at the same time) communication.

A parallel port is a type of interface found on computers (personal and otherwise) for connecting peripherals. In computing, a parallel port is a parallel communication physical interface. It is also known as a printer port or Centronics port. It was a de facto industry standard for many years, and was finally standardized as IEEE 1284 in the late 1990s, which defined a bi-directional version of the port. Today, the parallel port interface is seeing decreasing use because of the rise of Universal Serial Bus (USB) and FireWire (IEEE 1394) devices, along with network printing using Ethernet.
The parallel port interface was originally known as the LPT port (Line Print Terminal or Local Print Terminal) on IBM PC-compatible computers. According to the Jargon File, a similar port naming convention was used on ITS, DEC systems, and CP/M. It was designed to operate a text printer that used IBM’s 8-bit extended ASCII character set. The name derives from the fact that “line printer” was a common generic term at the time for any type of text printer. Graphical printers, along with a host of other devices, have been designed to communicate with the system.

CS001 Computer Proficiency GDB Idea Solution Fall 2012 On February 2013

Solution:
Introduction

The current developments in information technology and communication are really astounding. Over the last few years; there has been an explosion in the methods of communication. From the age of teleprinters, we have come to the age of, radios, TVs, fax machines, computers, the Internet, cell phones and cyberspace. In almost all parts of the world these fast track developments have had their impact.
The Globalization of News

The media has been greatly affected by technological advances. We can still read newspapers with yesterday’s news, but we now also have access to information about global events and news as and when they occur. When the Pope steps out on his balcony, we can see him just as clearly as the people milling around him. Distance has become a thing of the past. News travels as if we are all living together in one village. We saw the horrifying devastation in countries like Indonesia and Sri Lanka caused by the tsunami. As soon as Katrina happened the entire world knew of her arrival and the damage that followed.

So the world is really becoming a global village, especially in communication and the dissemination of information.

One of the main contributors to this metamorphosis is the Internet. People can chat and talk with each other as if they are physically present. The barriers of distance and culture are fast breaking down. People can exchange ideas, pictures, information, and so on, the miles separating them insignificant in the light of this powerful development. Gone are the days when we hardly knew about the cultures of people in far away countries. The Internet now provides information on anything to anyone who has access to a computer and a telephone.

The fast developing technology has enabled the media to communicate to people all over the world by reducing and/or eliminating the barrier of distance. Online shopping and banking are also helping the entire global community to have more cohesive and integrated approaches to these daily processes.

However, we should not forget the fact that access to a computer and other technology is still a far away dream for many people of the world especially in less developed countries of the world. Penetration into these areas is certainly taking place, but at a slow pace as the priority continues to remain on food, clothing and shelter.

Also, these technological advances have created the impression of a “global village”. However this has still not achieved a more humane behavior pattern across the globe. The hallmark of life in a village is the closeness and the resultant neighborliness, compassion and sympathy between the inhabitants. Technological advances have not achieved this so in this respect it may be too hasty to call the world a global village just as yet.

Even though the world is definitely shrinking in terms of accessibility of information and ease in communication, it is still alien and a far removed reality for many. Due to non uniform development of different communities and countries, the world is certainly not a global village as yet.
